Do you ever stare at a blank screen and don’t know where to start? Then this workshop could be for you.

"Everyone commented on how interesting it had been and how they had picked up some useful tips. Your style of training was very good and at an ideal pace so no one got bored. One of my colleagues said it was better than the IDM course she had been on for copywriting!

"Personally I found it helpful with regards to looking at who we are targeting and also I think it will help me cut down on waffle when writing copy."
Dawn Jones, Virgin Holidays

As well as delivering this workshop to clients including Thomas Cook, Virgin Holidays, Corus and Cranfield University, Richard Groom has presented a summary version at Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) branches in Cambridgeshire,
Leicestershire,
Nottinghamshire,
Bedfordshire,
Kent, Hertfordshire,
Hampshire
Northamptonshire
and London.

The feedback from delegates has always been very positive. For the workshops where a formal feedback process was in place the results were as follows:

After the workshop in Northampton 51 delegates rated it as 'excellent', two as 'average' and none as 'poor' - the highest rating ever given by CIM delegates in Northampton.

Delegates from Hatfield gave the workshop content a satisfaction score of 97% and Richard a presenter's score of 100%.

Delegates from the Cranfield workshop rated the content a satisfaction score of 92%, Richard a presenter's score of 100% and the event as a whole a score of 100%.

After the workshop held at Hammersmith College, 90% rated the workshop as ‘excellent’. Comments from attendees included 'There were loads of useful tips – it was fabulous' and 'It was interesting, fun and interactive. I would definitely recommend it'.

Finally, a delegate from a workshop in Hammersmith said: "I have carried around a 'Teach Yourself Copywriting' book for probably over a year now and have not managed to get anything out of it. Now I am enthused!"

Copywriting Workshop

The half or full-day workshop will give you new techniques and inspiration to help you create better marketing communications material

Writing needn’t always be a struggle
Experienced copywriters each have a tool kit of techniques to beat writer’s block - and they know how to produce words that motivate customers to take action. At this workshop, Richard Groom shares techniques built up over a decade or more of working as a professional copywriter.

The core of this workshop includes opportunities to learn and use new copywriting techniques, including:

  • How to decide what information to include - and what to leave out.
  • Editing wordy text: how to say more with fewer words.
  • How to beat writer’s block.
  • The best ways to make website text easy to read.
  • How to get readers hooked in the first few paragraphs.
  • How to write headlines with maximum impact.
  • And much more.

Additional modules can be added according to your delegates' needs, including:

  • Writing press releases.
  • A more detailed look at writing for websites.
  • Writing bids, proposals and tenders.
  • Tips for better PowerPoint presentations.
  • Avoiding the most common grammar and punctuation mistakes.

Practical exercises:

Delegates will be asked to bring some examples of their marketing materials. They will use them as the basis for some of the exercises, so they start to get value from their new skills right away.

Availability:

Presented as a half-day or full-day in-house workshop, depending on the number of subjects you want to cover.

Where you have delegate numbers too small for a full workshop, this content can also be delivered as a half-day coaching session, either one-to-one or in small groups.

Prices:

There is a flat per-delegate rate for this workshop, making it very affordable. Half-day courses cost £100 per delegate and full-day courses £150 per delegate. However, where delegate numbers are low the minimum price for a half-day workshop is £500 and £750 for a full-day workshop. Where more than 12 delegates attend a workshop a discount is offered, depending on numbers and circumstances.

A one-to-one coaching service is also available. The prices for this are £250 for half a day and £400 for a full day.

Note: any training or coaching delivered locally (ie within an hour's travel) does not involve any travel or accommodation costs. These costs may however be added for courses further afield.

Please contact us if you want more information about the course or want to discuss running it in your organisation.
