News 13 January 2010. 'Distinction' in e-marketing course. Richard Groom of Peterborough Copywriting Bureau has achieved Distinction level in the Chartered Institute of Marketing's Professional Development Award in e-Marketing. He achieved the Distinction level with A-grade (70% or higher) passes on both the Award's assessments. The Award provides ‘solid skills and knowledge to truly take advantage of the digital medium’ and covers the strategic, planning and operational elements of e-marketing, as well as examining how these can be incorporated into an organisation’s wider marketing programme.
2 October 2009. Series of Business English Essentials courses to be held in UK cities. Following the launch of our Business English Essentials course earlier this year, we are pleased to announce it will be held on a public basis in several UK locations over the next few months. Courses are being held in Bedford, Central London, Southampton, Nottingham, Cambridge, Leicester and Peterborough. Here's where you can find more details, including the schedule of courses 3 July 2009. Delegates are positive about our Business English Essentials course. In the past few weeks our new Business English Essentials course has been run three times and feedback from delegates was universally positive. The course, which looks at techniques for writing more clearly and with greater accuracy, has been attended by people in many different roles, including marketers, graphic designers and members of an employee communications team.
27 April 2009. Launching our new Business English Essentials course. If you ever get confused about spelling, apostrophes or capital letters, or want to write in a clearer way, now there’s a one-day training course to help. Our new Business English Essentials course is a great chance to brush up on your English and improve the effectiveness of your written communications - without being taken back to stuffy English lessons you might remember from school. It’s not just for marketers. Anyone writing at work, from short emails to detailed reports, will find this course of benefit if they sometimes lack confidence in their ability to produce clear and accurate communications. The course will generally be offered on an in-company basis. However, on 28 May I will be running a public course in Peterborough. Numbers on this course are limited and it is unlikely I will be running a public course again until the autumn at the earliest. This is therefore an excellent opportunity to attend, especially if your company isn’t of a size that can justify commissioning in-house training. Please contact us if you want more information about the course, wish to book places for 28 May, or want to discuss running the course in your organisation. 10 October 2008. New programme of copywriting workshops for CIM branches. A new series of the copywriting workshops we deliver for branches of the Chartered Institute of Marketing is about to begin. And starting in Hammersmith on 13 November, the format is changing into a two-part structure. The two-part structure looks like this: Copywriting part one: what should you write about? If you struggle to know what to cover in your marketing materials this workshop will help. Richard Groom shares techniques for getting to the heart of what will excite customers about your product or service.
Copywriting part two: how can you get your message across? The second workshop looks at writing for various types of materials, from direct mail letters to websites. It's packed with real-life examples and interactive exercises to sharpen your skills.Three of these two-stage programmes are already scheduled:
(I am also delivering the last of the one-stage workshops in Luton on 31 January 2009.) Please contact us if you are involved in organising CIM events and would like to include these workshops in your schedule.
7 July 2008. Copywriting coaching now available. The copywriting training that we have delivered to organisations across the UK for the past few years is now available as a coaching session. The half-day session has been developed for customers who do not have enough people wanting the training to justify a full in-house course. The coaching can be delivered one-to-one or in groups of two or three and is followed by email and phone coaching to help attendees put their new skills into place. Please visit the training and coaching section of this website for more information.
27 February 2008. A new marketing blog is now online. A new blog has been launched by Marketing Ability, the marketing training company co-formed by Peterborough Copywriting Bureau's Richard Groom in 2006. The blog is as a place where Marketing Ability will share thoughts on just about anything marketing-related, including latest trends, changing legislation and examples of the good, the bad and the ugly from the marketing world. Richard says: "I have been writing my Marketing Booster email newsletter for six years and the new blog is a good addition to this resource. The interative nature of the blog also means it's a forum in which marketers can raise important issues, and where they can ask questions that the partners in Marketing Ability and blog readers can respond to." Vist the Marketing Ability Blog here.
10 July 2007. New articles added to our ‘Marketing Booster’ archive. The archive of back issues of our 'Marketing Booster' e-newsletter has just been added to. Some of the best issues from the last 18 months are now available, including articles on writing news stories, communicating what's relevant to customers and how to get more from your top sources of new business. Visit the back issues menu and look out for these and dozens of other articles with tips and techniques for effective marketing.
