As well as writing, we can manage projects too.
You might want us to find a graphic designer and printer to see a job to completion. Briefing designers and managing the process is a skill in itself so we can help you save time.

You can also ask us to deliver training or coaching.
Why not improve your in-house skills by raising your people's ability to write clear, simple and effective English?

You can also get help to fine-tune your presentation skills.
Whether it's a training session or an informal critique of an upcoming presentation, you can invite us to help.

Are you a writer?

Of course you are.

The chances are that you have had a hand in writing your company's communication materials. You have probably already spent time on your leaflets, sales letters, brochures, web site and so on.

But perhaps you are aware that they aren't doing what you hoped they would. If so, spending a little time trying to bring them up to the right standard could be one of the best investments you make.

Perhaps a good starting point is to look at my free writing tips. These will get you started on taking a fresh look at your own materials.

But you might decide that you don't have enough time to do the writing yourself. And in any case, shouldn't you and your colleagues be running the business or the marketing activity, instead of poring over sub-headings and semicolons?

Or you might feel you aren't so good at turning information into clear, simple and effective messages. No shame in that. I'm no good at accountancy so I get someone to do it for me, so why shouldn't you get help with the things you aren't great at?

If either of the above two paragraphs apply to you then I might be able to help. Call me if you want to talk about your situation and I'll give you an honest assessment of whether I might be able to write the material you need. If you then want to explore things further we can arrange an initial meeting, or maybe reach an agreement through phone calls and emails.

How much does it cost?

It's hard to give accurate information about prices, but let me try to give some ball park figures. As a rough guide, projects like writing a brochure or a customer magazine of 8-12 pages generally cost from a few hundred pounds to a couple of thousand pounds. A one-off article or press release might cost from 100-250 pounds. And a website might cost from 50-150 pounds per page, depending on the type and depth of content.

I work out a project price so you know how much it will cost at the outset. I base the price on how long I think it will take for me to carry out research such as interviews and background reading, how much writing is involved and the extra input I might have, such as advising on the message or editorial direction and liaising with graphic designers. Unless your brief or the scope changes drastically I stick to the project price. Overall, I like to keep prices as reasonable as possible and I rarely charge for 'extras' like client meetings and other expenses.

So please  contact me to discuss your needs and find out whether I could help.

Richard Groom
Owner & Senior Writer

“We had generated a large list of people who were interested in our service. The challenge was to get them even more interested. Richard Groom wrote a simple letter for us that we sent to everyone who had previously been in contact with us. That one letter generated a better response rate than any of our previous mailings.

Many of the people who responded to the letter have since joined us for inspection visits to Spain, with ten of them subsequently choosing to buy their Spanish property through us. We have since asked Richard to write more letters and other material for us so we can continue to get our message across in an effective way.”
